£650,000 raised for Oxfam and counting

Corporate Mobile Recycling have worked with Oxfam for over five years collecting second hand mobile phones from Oxfam’s 750 high street shops, 2,000 Co-op stores and corporate supporters.

Our efforts in the last financial year (2007/8) alone raised £200,000 for Oxfam. This is enough for Oxfam to do ALL of the following: pay for a six-month supply of essential medicines for 316 villages; train 831 healthworkers and 687 midwives; provide 4213 mosquito nets to prevent children from catching malaria; and provide 1317 goats and 987 calves to people in poor communities to earn a living.

We have a number of new schemes in place this year and we intend to increase that figure to £220,000 for 2008/9.

Why not help us to reach this ambitious target by donating the proceeds from your handset recycling to Oxfam?

On average, each (working) handset is worth £5 to Oxfam (some are worth much more) and on this basis 20 phones would raise £100 for Oxfam. £100 is enough to buy essential medicines and basic health supplies for a whole community for six months.

If you would like to recycle for Oxfam then please…

Companies: If you are reading this page from work then you may be interested in donating the value of your used phones to Oxfam. Companies are a very important part of the Bring Bring scheme as many upgrade their phones or change service provider on a regular basis.

Organising a collection at work is easy to do and will cost you nothing. Call us on +44 (0)207 404 6440 to find out more.

Schools: If you are a school, club or society then you can raise money for your own good cause, whilst making a significant contribution to Oxfam. Please click here to have a look at the Giveback website to learn more.

Working phones are traded as second hand phones and are then re-used in countries around the world such as Kenya, Ghana and Sri Lanka. The phones that we are not able to reuse are broken down by each component and recycled. So, by recycling your phone through the Oxfam scheme you raise vital funds for Oxfam, save dangerous metals from landfill, and save precious metals for reuse.
