December 2006

Co-op Travelcare to raise funds for oxfam.

Throughout 2005 – 2006 Co-operative Food retail helped to promote the message “Recycle for Oxfam”, whereby customers donated their unwanted Mobile phones and Inkjet cartridges to Oxfam in order to raise funds to alleviate worldwide poverty.

So far the scheme has been a great success – raising over £120,000 for Oxfam by recycling almost 31,000 unwanted mobile phones and over 14,500 inkjet cartridges. Following this success, Travelcare are now joining the scheme. From December 2006, Travelcare customers will be able to pick up a mobile phone recycling bag in store - just in time to donate their unwanted old mobile phones after they receive nice new ones as Christmas presents!

Corporate Mobile Recycling (CMR) have six years experience in the mobile recycling market with processing facilities in London and Madrid. CMR recycled 500,000 mobile phones last year saving a potential 96 tonnes of mobile phones and accessories from landfill. CMR work closely with schools, charities and corporates providing innovative and well resourced schemes for organisations who want to recycle and raise money.
